Bridge to the Viewer

I've been toying with this idea for some time now. I wanted to show people, the viewers, how we make these beautiful images. A "bridge", of sorts, to the viewer.



What you will see is Landis Bennett in the process of entering the site, setting up, finding the proper lighting, aligning the camera and proceeding with the shoot. He snaps photos, 12 with his particular rig, to make a complete 360° pass with overlap. He then takes notes on where he is, GPS coordinates, location name and anything else that might be of relevance. During that time several people cross the bridge. Strangely enough, they did not cross during the critical photo go around. But I was rather fortunate that they did walk by. You can see how people add flavor to the pano or how it can be difficult to get just the right shot with many people in the surrounding area.



This is not a panorama per se, but a QTVR object movie to show even behind the scenes how dynamic panoramas are. You can watch the movie auto-play and repeat or click and drag on the image to move Landis around. You can view a complete version of the object movie, but be forewarned that it is a 13 MB file.
