"Le Pont Neuf" (in english, this would sound like "The New Bridge") is the oldest bridge in Paris. The construction began in 1578, in the reign of Henri III and only ended in 1604, in the reign of Henri IV. The construction has been delayed beacuse of economic troubles and financial issues.

At Henri IV death, an equestrial statue has been erected. In the panorama, the statue is the "blue cubic thing" located on the left of the bridge. Henri IV's statue is now being restored and under covers. This statue was the first equestrian statue in Paris, and also the first not being part of a building.Like other royal statues, she was melted during the revolution and replaced identically in 1818.
Other facts that made "Le Pont Neuf" unique : contrary to other Paris' bridges, it did not support habitations, the bridge was very broad and has footwalks (4 centuries ago, it was new !)

"Le Pont Neuf" is made of 2 independant bridges : one with seven arches and the other with 5 arches (the part shot in my panorama). Under the last arch on the right, a someone plays saxophone using the great warm sound reverberation of the bridge...
