Under His Vine and Under His Fig Tree

But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree: and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of host hath shoken it. Micha 4,4

This scene is a symbol for the shalom the peace of God – much more than peace: harmony, wholeness, well-being

And it is my firm belief, that this shalom is the main foundation for the bloom of humanity.

In these days, when peace itself is endangered and many humans suffer from the inhumanity of war worldwide, I would like to quote the Litany of Reconciliation of the Community of the Cross of Nails www.crossofnails-na.org

All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

Father, forgive.
The covetous desires of people and nations to possess what is not their own,

Father, forgive.

The panorama is a sign of hope. It is a panorama of the Eichert Chapel in the vineyards near Jechtingen, Kaiserstuhl, above the valley of the Rhine. Sitting beneath the wine, you can see mountains in the far distance. These mountains are the Vosges in France. After two bloody wars in the last century, there is peace between France and Germany. By now it is more than just peace. Reflecting our common cultural routes and our cultural particularities that are so inspiring (in literature, music, art, …) we have grown very good neighbours.
