Is stereo music old history ?

As photography started being in color, audio recording appeared. Image and sound have ever since been tightly linked. But the sound, being lighter than the image, in terms of amount of data it vehicles, was first to be widely digitized. And movie theaters used one speaker, then three and nowadays up to 64 audio channels are feeding at least as many speakers. After being the privilege of the movie industry, the most famous of those techniques, Dolby Atmos, is now available also for music production.
