Summer Isn't Summer Without A Week Camping

Summer isn't summer without a week camping with the family. As far as I can remember it's something I've always done. The tent you see here is just the latest (and biggest) in a line of many. My first was a simple dome but after I got married something bigger was needed. The next still wasn't huge and you couldn't stand up straight but it was big enough for two. Now we jump right up to date and what you see here is a massive improvement. You now can stand up straight, in fact it's so big you can't even touch the ceiling at the top of the dome. All of this space for just three people and a dog!
We also struck it lucky with the campsite due to not needing an electrical hook-up. We still have a need to charge our mobile phones but we bring our own solar panels. So instead of being in the main field with everyone else we were given our own corner of the meadow. The drive through the meadow, along mowed grass paths, was a bit tight, but it was a wonderfully peaceful place to spend our evenings cooking, drinking and relaxing.
While camping we don't like to sit about all day, we use the time to explore new areas. We head out looking for places to visit and things to do. For example while we were here we visited Chichester cathedral, the Amberley Museum & Heritage Centre and the National Trusts Uppark House & Garden to name but three. All this can get a bit tiring but it's easy enough to plan a light day with plenty of time to relax.
Taken with a Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G fisheye lens. Mounted on a Nodal Ninja 5 panorama head and R-D16 rotator atop a Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod. Shots taken at 6 positions 60° apart, tilted 15° down and another shot taken looking straight up. Raw files then processed in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7 before being stitched together using PTGui 10.0.15 Pro and converted using Pano2VR 4.5.3.
