La Crueize
La Crueize, Rochessadoule, Cevennes, Southern France

The buildings originate from the middle ages and were carefully restored after they were ruined by subterranean mining in the 1950’s. They still look medieval, albeit they of course have electrical power, television and internet.
Not only do chicken and peacocks running freely in the meadows, in the surrounding forest live pigs and sheep freely in vast fences and feed there mostly on what the forest provides. Nevertheless they are fed each evening to stay used to humans, as can be seen in this WWP panorama (showing me, taken by my father): Proudly Doing Adults Work
