Smith Boat Works is owned by Fred Smith, left, and has been in the same location on Samish Island, Washington ever since his father built the business. Ron Smith helps Fred build a 10 foot pram. Fred, who is 85, has built many kinds of boats, including a 45 foot trimaran and smaller sailing boats. They build their boats one at a time and the wait time for delivery is around 4 months.
