Planina Zaprikraj (~1200 m) is situated above Drežniške Ravne. There is a pasture community of Zaprikraj with the production of cheese is in a summer season of pasturing.
Partial photos for this 360° surround photo were intended to be trashed due the bad (blurred) quality but as it was a unique chance to document the »working« process of cheese making on the pasture of Zaprikraj (~ 1200 m) I tried to do »something«. When I transformed the panorama into surround image the interesting »bokeh« effect appeared.
Background story: my oldest daughter has just completed the last exam on the university so I asked her to help me the next day with the documentation of the battle field from First World War on the southern slope of Mt. Krn (2244m). We started early at 5:30 am as the plan was very busy with the locations. Our departure was from Drežniške Ravne to Krasji vrh (1700 m) and the pasture of Zaprikraj. At 11 we were quite tired as we carried about 30 kg (20+10) of equipment (plan were locations with Italian caverns and fortressed with fortified trenches – after 99 years there is still much to be find and seen…
We came to the pasture settlement of Zaprikraj and friendly herdsmen invited us to drink a »short« glass of spirit and a young cheese. It was just a short time before the start of the cheese making procedure and I asked to document the process. I needed to be quick as there was no time for posing but action – the milk in huge copper needed to be warmed exactly to 90°C and cheese makers needed to be fast. It was a lot of steam with the fist scene and when I entered the second one – the cheese ripening chamber with much lower temperature I had some problems with focusing but noticed the »complete failure« the next at my office.
