This picuture shows Iceland's biggest geothermal power station, located at the Krafla volcano. Approaching the area, it looks as if big machines would produce clouds.

Using elaborated machinery allows for generating the energy for more than 90% of Iceland's households. The recently opened visitor center provides more information and is really worth a visit, as well as the nearby hiking area where you can feel the heat still evaporating from the surface after the latest eruption of Krafla in the 1980s.

The usage of geothermal power in Iceland is an impressive example how the combination of machines and the forces of nature can be used to produce "green energy".
