1900 Takau (打狗、たかお) station opened with the opening of Tainan-Takau line where there is Kaohsiung Harbor Station today.

In 1908, the Japanese built the coastal railway — "Harbor Line", or translated as "Hamasen" in Japanese. pronunciation. This railway area was in fact a tidal land, and was located in the transportation pivot of both the railway and the harbor. Therefore, this area not only had a highly developed fisheriesy, but was also the political and economic center at that time.
