The Landis family cemetery is located on the Landis farm in Lancaster Pa. There seems to be hundreds of these private family cemeteries located on farms in and around Lancaster County. From what I can find this farm has been in the Landis family for about 6 generations. There are 38 headstones with most being so old that names or dates cannot be read properly. On investigation, I can only read about four of the older ones and see birth dates in the late 1680’s with the earliest death being a child of 2 yrs. in 1830. The newest one is off to the left and shows a date of 2006. This farm is also the one located right behind my 2011 entry "limits"

The panorama is also dedicated to Pat Swovelin. While I never met Pat or communicated often with him, there were times that we emailed back and forth and they all seemed to be about graveyards for some reason. I would get a comment from him and I especially remember one during the “forgotten places” event. He said where he lived they would either move cemeteries or they’d just disappear. He said that he was happy that in my area many graveyards like the one I shot off the side of Rt. 30 exit ramp survived and had caretakers who looked after them.

This family graveyard is a reminder of the heritage of caring for the past and also reminds me of Pat.
