After thinking quite a while about Heritage, an idea came to my mind. I remembered the place where I shot the Garden theme almost six years ago:
Väterchen Timofej's Garden
The nice and quiet park-like garden with its small church is the heritage
Väterchen Timofej left to the residents of Munich and the visitors of the Olympic Park.
I tried to find the exact location where I shot the last panorama, and I'm quite pleased with the result. Not much has changed during the six years in between the two panoramas. However, in terms of shooting the panorama and processing the results almost everything has changed: the camera, my technique, the software, the computer - except for the lens, which still is a Sigma 8mm/F4 fish eye!
Trivia
In the early 1950s a fugitive from Russia came to Munich. His name was Timofej Wassiljewitsch Prochorow, but soon he was called
Väterchen Timofej (roughly translates as
Old Father Timofej). From the debris of the World War II that had been moved from all over the city to Oberwiesenfeld (Munich's first airport), Väterchen Timofej built himself a small house, a chapel and later a small church. In the late 1960s the Munich authorities looking for a place for the Olympic facilities wanted to tear the house and church down since they had been built without a building permit. It was only after a protest of the Munich citizens that the planned area for the Olympic Park was moved further north and the illegally built buildings stayed untouched. Väterchen Timofej lived there until 2004 when he died at the age of 110.
