Forgotten in plain view: The "Schlössl" at Sulzbach-Rosenberg, slowly falling into disarray. Built from 1785 to 1789 as summer residence for Countess Palatine Franziska Dorothea, the "Franziskaruh" ("Franziska's rest") in later centuries served as a restaurant for the upper crust of the Maxhütte steel mill's employees. Its current look dates back to a 1964 renovation, and it hasn't seen much use after the 2002 closing of the steel mill. Now it's waiting (possibly in vain) for someone with serious cash to restore it to its former glory.

The long flat building to the right houses a single lane of 9-pin bowling. As a kid, 30 years ago, I used to bowl there every two weeks with my parents. Ah, nostalgia ...

(Don't be fooled by some maps that claim this is the First Bavarian School Museum. That one is located some 100 m to the west, behind the former bowling alley.)
