This photo was taken from the top of the tower of the church of the Convent of Christ at Tomar.

The castle, founded in the XII Century, was headquarters of the Portuguese section of the Order of the Knights Templar and played a key role in the founding of the nation and the reconquest against the Moors.

The Order of Christ is rooted in the conversion of the order of the Knights Templar after their extinction on the principles of the XIV Century.

The Convent of Christ, World Heritage, was the scene of the most striking moments in the history of Portugal and is a great testimony of eight centuries of events.
