The Sands of Time... the yellow orange glow for over 100 years was created by Bethlehem Steel furnaces. The constantly moving iron ore bridge helped forged the nation by lifting countless tons of ore. The ore that would be melted into the steel that built the nation's bridges, railroads, skyscrapers, battleships and their guns. On November 18, 1995 the last glowing blast furnace was turned off. The iron ore bridge is timelessly still, however now working to forge a new era in Bethlehem.
Time and money ($743 million) have revitalized the area with the newly opened Sands Casino built on the foundation of that same ore pit.
The economy of our time however has postponed further construction of the new 300-room hotel as seen silhouetted in the sunset.
