Description: Elevation - 1 year Growth and tree top elevation. Is it better to cut them off at the ground.. or at a higher elevation for next years growth?
The Banana Tree grows rapidly. The objective was see how tall trees grow in one growing season. Last year we decided to Group A cut half of them to the ground line and remaining few Group B were cut at 4 foot elevation above ground. Spring time started in April.
On 20 June the Group A highest banana tree was about 3 feet above the ground. Group B has grown only about 2 feet but its top is 6 feet above the ground. Image was bracketed and tone balanced.
Answer? Cut them off at about 4 foot elevation above the ground line. They will eventually grow taller by end of summer season.
