San Francisco Bay from the summit of Mount Livermore, Angel Island California: 741 ft. This is the highest elevation I know of from which a panorama may be taken within San Francisco Bay. There are much higher elevations around the perimeter of the Bay Area, but none within it.

This was an unusually warm and clear night for the bay area. There is something quite magical about being in this quiet and isolated place and still being entirely surrounded by the bustle of a major metropolitan area.

I need to thank the State Park administration of Angel Island that granted me a special permit to move about the Island after dark (normally prohibited) and for generous and unexpected logistical assistance. In particular I wish to thank Cheryl Jones who treated me like a family member. Her generous hospitality made this an entirely delightful experience.
