How strange is it to have garlic fries and wine and watch opera, in a ballpark?
This is the second year that I have gone to the opera at AT&T Park, although I think it was PacBell Park last year but I digress. The SF Opera has had three productions, in partnership with the SF Giants, simulcast onto the big screen. Last year was
Sampson and Delilah. This year's performance was
Lucia de Lammermoor It was a culturally elevating experience. I brought along friends since the tickets were free.
This year we had a beautiful, warm evening. Many people showed up for the entertainment and for the voice of Natalie Dessay for the title role in
Lucia. Short synopsis: Romeo and Juliet in plaid. So, not only are you having a hot dog or nachos with your cabernet you get to watch Italians in plaid singing in Scotland in Italian. Tons of fun. It was a really great evening of opera enjoyment. The SF Gate reviewed the opera in an article called
"Just mad about 'Lucia'" and can tell you what I cannot about the performance. This is one of the best operas I have ever seen.
PS-This was my first monopod guerilla pano. Sorry about the errors.
