The panorama was taken during the "Knaxiade" event in
our kindergarden/nursery in Freising, Germany. It shows our son balancing over a wooden crocodile. Actually it shows him six times alltogether. Other stations of the course are in the background for throwing balls at cups, shimmying along suspended ropes and several more. Kids from the kindergarden and nursery groups play along with joy and devotion.
This event adds to the community they experience here every day. They play and sing together, do handicrafts and exercise. They drink and eat, take their naps and grow up with lots of friends of different nationalities.
The day-care-center is the flat building behind the crocodile. A lot of time is spent in this beautyful outdoor area which resembles everything you also find at the Isar (the river that flows through Freising). Stones, gravel and sand, shrubs and bushes, water and walkways - well, you rarely see storks and definitely never see crocodiles and sharks in this part of the world.
The
Knaxiade, organized by the German Sparkasse (savings bank), is an initiative to help children overcome a lack of exercise. It is a half day's event in kindergardens and elementary schools. The kids complete a course of eleven exercises with different equipment: balancing, juggling, throwing and many more. Everyone is a winner and children learn: Exercise is fun!
