David (Doc) Littlefield 1942-2006
Memorial Garden & Outdoor Classroom
I had the privilege of teaching Science Classes with David (Doc) Littlefield at Camden Hills Regional High School on the coast of Maine for the last 3 years of Doc's life. He passed away (Jan 20th 2006) after a prolonged fight with a brain tumor. Doc devoted 26 years of his life at CHRHS to educating the young folks of this community by way of moral example and the joys of scientific inquiry.
It was an honor to have shared part of my teaching career with such a wonderful human being & not a day has gone by that his presence, kind wisdom & gentle ways are not remembered & missed.
In doing this panorama, I am fortunate to submit my entry not only as an example of a local Garden dedicated in Doc's memory, but as a tribute to my memories of our friendship. I miss you Doc.
The senior class of CHRHS wanted to leave a memorial to Doc. A favorite teacher, who many of this graduating class remember as having a strong positive influence on their high school experience.
And so I present to you the Memorial "Doc" Littlefield Garden & Out Door Classroom.
The small panorama shows the final garden on a quiet rainy solstice afternoon as it is newly landscaped & dedicated complete with wooden benches, granite seating amphitheater, nest boxes & wildflowers..... however... in the fullscreen pano you may see my favorite photo of Doc taken before his illness composited so that Doc can be a part of the Garden dedicated to his memory.
I hope you enjoy..... in the knowledge that through this garden/outdoor classroom Doc's love of the natural world may continue to influence other young students into the future.
With Respect & Fondness..
