The original building of the Smithsonian Institution Museum is known as the Castle. It is located on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Immediately adjacent is the Arts & Industries Building, an eighteen century ornate brick exhibition hall. In the last decade the area around these buildings has been developed into a series of interconnected gardens with a variety of interesting spaces. This panorama was taken just outside the West entrance to the Arts & Industries Building and is the site of a statue of Spencer Baird, the second secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. He was a pioneer in American natural history. See my website for additional panoramas taken in these gardens.

Nikon D200 with Nikkor 8mm f2.8 fisheye lense. Handheld with plumb line on lense and hotshoe level. 8 images in portrait mode. Stitched with PTGui 5.8.3 and created with CubicConverter. Zenith & nadir patched in Photoshop CS2.
