Lindfors donated the building to the Finnish Garden Society, and the Winter Garden was opened to the public in 1893.
The garden and the other buildings owned by the Finnihs Garden Society were purchased by the City of Helsinki in 1907.
The building consists of three rooms, the west wing shown here, the palm room in the middle and the cactus room, and houses over 200 different plants.
