The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) exists to heal the wounds of government-sponsored torture on individuals, their families and their communities, and to stop its practice. The CVT, which began offering services to torture survivors in 1985, moved into this Victorian house along the Mississippi River in 1991.
The Garden of Healing at the Center for Victims of Torture offers a place for clients and community members to reflect and find solace. The garden, dedicated to torture victims everywhere, is tended by devoted volunteer gardeners.
