Xeriscape Garden - Water Conservation
Designed by Sally Allsup, Landscape Architect Fort Worth, Texas, Constructed by Baldi Gardens Arlington, Texas in April 2004. Design called for wall terracing, backfill, new walkways and Xeriscape plantings. Full growth maturity targeted for 2006.
Work area 6,400 square feet (730 sq meters). Plantings include Texas long summer high temperatures 100°f (38°c) and draught tolerant native Texas plants and shrubs to provide minimum watering and maintenance. In this garden you will see sun flowers, Wax Myrtle, Smoke Tree, Green Mound, Little Gem Magnolia, Wheeler's Dwarf Pittosporum, Red Dwarf Barberry, Glauca Grass, Dusty Miller, Texas Sage, Santolina (gray and green) Texas Autumn Sage, Banana Trees, Day Lily, Lambs Ear, Red and Soft Yucca and Yellow and Orange Lantana.
A mixture of plantings provide ecological food support for birds, butterflys, bugs of all types, geko's, lizards and squirrels. The bird feeder is empty again.
Several circular path ways lead guests through the garden area. The garden area is designed to provide a quiet secluded recreational retreat for the owner.
