My New Garden

My New Garden... about 2 mths ago we finally put a garden in our yard. It had been on the plans for a long, long time, but for one reason or another (including a long spell of drought) we hadn't done it yet.

My baby boy's 1st birthday was approaching and it was decided the garden must be done for his party. So we set about doing that and found some wonderful large plants, Majestic Palms - originally from Madagascar, at very inexpensive prices and we built our garden around them with Golden Cane palms, and a few smaller plants including the reddish ones and some green & white grassy plants (rhoeos) around the outside.

In the pano you can see our patio which was empty until we did the front garden, as the garden was required to provide us with a measure of privacy. Now we sit out there for most breakfasts & lunches. You can see the little guys high chair with mum & dad seats flanking. It's a great spot to eat as the house faces north, so the winter sun reaches into the patio and warms us all perfectly. If you look closely in the pano you can also see my wife and boy inside watching an educational DVD before his bathtime :)

Our modest garden has had a very positive impact on our living & eating arrangements, we're extremely pleased with it.
