Caption
Located on the southeastern corner of Central Park, this body of water is simply called "the Pond." This area of the park sits below street level to offer a quick retreat from the city and its noise. The park was designed by Fredrick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux in 1857 and the Pond is now home to turtles, fish, and ducks. It's easy to make friends with the ducks if you feed them some bread.
