The Grand Basin at the foot of Art Hill in Forest Park has been dramatically renovated as part of the Forest Park Revitalization Plan. A central element of this project is 8 newly completed fountains similar to those that existed at the time of the 1904 World's Fair. Their purpose is both aesthetic and a way of reducing water quality problems through aeration. The two largest fountains propel water 50 feet high while six more shoot water 30 feet into the air. The Grand Basin was dedicated on January 13, 2004.
The St. Louis Art Museum can be seen at the top of Art Hill.
