Coast of Norway

One of the rare calm and clear days at Golten at the coast of Norway, southwest of Bergen. While water is an important player in forming most of the world's landscapes, there are probably few places like this where it seems to be the only player: Glaciers carved the islands and fjords during the last ice age. Today frequent storms bring high surf from the Atlantic Ocean, erode the rock and make vegetation nearly impossible.

This panorama was taken with a Canon EOS 20D, 10-22mm EFS lens.

Setting up the tripod on the edge of a vertical drop of about 10 m, it was hard to find a place to hide when taking the shots directed inland. So I used the self-timer and jumped away a few meters. Seeing the camera in that delicate position while hoping for no sudden gusts is not an experience I want to make every day...
