A U.S. National Park Service ranger lends a hand to snap a photo for a family portrait in front of the Statue of Liberty - Sunday, June 20, 2004 - Father's Day

Only the site's grounds have been open for public access which can be visited by ferry from Manhattan's Battery Park or New Jersey's Liberty State Park ferry terminals.

The Statue of Liberty has been closed to the public since September 11, 2001. The national monument is set to partially reopen in August 2004. The reopening will allow visitors to tour the base of the statue, which houses a museum, but access to the statue itself will remain off limits.

Taken with a Fujifilm S2 Pro digital SLR, Nikkor 8mm/2.8 lens, f16 at 1/180 second, ISO 200. Assembled with PTMac and Panorama Tools. Additional post-production with PhotoShop, Cubic Converter and QuickTime Pro.
