The Mirror Room is part of the Schoenbrunn Palace which was built by the Emperors of Habsburg as an imperial summer residence. Schoenbrunn is an outstanding example of a Baroque "Gesamtkunstwerk" which not only includes the Palace but also a large garden with different buildings and sections like the Gloriette, orangery and a "Menagerie" (Zoo).

The Mirror Room we see today was designed by Nikolaus Pacassi during a transformation of the Palace in the middle of the 18th Century. Rumors say that it might be the room where 6 year old W.A. Mozart gave his first concert for Empress Maria Theresa on 13. Oct. 1762.

The little altar in the niche of the room holds a Madonna painted by Agricola. Approx. since late 18th Century, new Ministers were sworn in in front of this altar.

The panorama was shot with kind permission and support of the 'Schloss Schoenbrunn Kultur- und Betriebsges.m.b.H'. You can find more information about Schoenbrunn at the Schoenbrunn Website.
