This is the interior of Ritner Creek Covered bridge. At first glance, it appears as a long tunnel, with the end far from the viewer. Looking around, however, reveals the truth that the picture was taken at one end of the structure -- surprisingly revealed by the opposite view that shows only the outside environment.

I've taken a number of 360 panoramas of covered bridges, and usually position the viewing location in the center. In this case, it seems surprising to have such different perspectives at both ends, as if the photography was trying to communicate something. In fact, it's an example of how much the photographer controls the viewer's perception of the scene, even for a sphere. Not completely, of course, but there's no ignoring the fact that the dramatic difference between the two views was created by the photographic choice of position, rather than the viewer's choice of direction.

Equipment

Nikon Z7, NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S at 24mm, Nodal Ninja 5, PTGui, Photoshop
