Can you see Corsica from French mainland? Yes, definitely! Corsica is about 200 kilometers off the coast, with fairly high peaks, so it should be visible. But most of the time it is hidden behind distance haze. Haze is caused by the scattering of sunlight in the air. But just before sunrise Corsica is clearly visible as a silhouette against the morning sky, even from sea level. Pan straight up for a photo.

The Esterel is a small mountain range between Cannes and Saint-Raphaël and a very beautiful part of the French Mediterranean coast with its red rocks and sparse development. I had hoped to be able to see Corsica from 400 m up in the evening when the sun was low, but even on this winter day there was too much haze.
