Saint John is Canada's oldest incorporated city established by royal charter on May 18, 1785. It is at the mouth of the Saint John river.
The Great Fire of Saint John in 1877 destroyed 40% of the city and left 13,000 people homeless. Most of the stone building here have a built date of 1878 and were built to replace the wood structure that were there before.
