Height v Tall. A tryst on tripods and datums.

I have made a number of "time" or "time-lapse" panoramas, but never been able to showcase them in the WWP. This one was a little simpler than some others so I present a single panorama with elements from the first and last images in a series of 10 showing a garden make-over from the same viewpoint at key points in the work. 

Like other "time-lapse" panoramas I have made,  problems revolve around where to put the camera when:
1. You dont know what the view will be like in 3 months,
2. You need to return the camera to the exact same position for every shot,
    especially when the ground level varies over time.

The worst case was a series in a large church where the floor was removed to reveal the crypt for renovation. This meant that the floor level dropped over 2 meters for the central section of the shoot.

For this simpler shoot the level change under the camera was about 1.2 m during construction and back to 1m at the end of the work.

To define the camera origin a number of hooks were screwed into walls and fences that will not change. This allows a series of cords to be strung across the site. Where they cross is a repeatable known point in space where the Nodal Mount can be located with mm accuracy. Initially the camera is set with the tripod at minimum height. During construction the tripod is extended to maximum and a bit more by setting on blocks to get the nodal mount back to the original height. The last shot uses the tripod set near maximum. 

Only the first (monochrome) and last (colour) image was used to make a single panorama that attempts to show the before and after transformation like a cut-away diagram.
