Rise, as we know, can be conjugated in many ways….this time, mine, is connected to spring (nature’s rise) and a little hill, where? in Milan. In Milan? but Milan is flat!!!!!

Correct, but…..there is a hill, a small hill made at the end of the Second World War….but it’s better to get more precise info from Wikipedia….

“It is an artificial hill initially formed with the accumulation of rubble, caused by the bombings carried out by the Anglo-American forces during the Second World War and with other material coming from the demolition of the last sections of the Bastions, which took place after 1945. The project is due to architect Piero Bottoni, who dedicated it to his wife Elsa Stella, from whom the hill takes its name.

This artificial hillock has a height of forty-five meters on the floor below. In the original project of 1946, it should have been twice as high, but was limited due to lateral forces of the ground that could create problems for the nearby buildings in Via Isernia, on the eastern side.

The preparation of concrete steps was first provided for, and subsequently the accumulation of debris and landfill, creating the Monte Stella Park, [4] with an area of 370,000 square meters between wooded areas and meadows. The park is built on steps to climb, connected by a panoramic road that, turning around the mountain, reaches the top from where you have a broad view of the city and its hinterland and, in case of favourable visibility, you can see the entire Alpine Arch and, to the southwest, the Emilian Apennines.”

I decided to shoot not over the top, but on one side, to see there is yet something above and below me….
