100 Jahre Osthafen - 100 Years Eastern Harbour

19. August 2012, the Eastern Harbour of Frankfurt is celebrating its birthday.

The Eastern Harbor will get a new bridge soon which will connect Frankfurt and Offenbach. The bridge itself was not built over the river but on the river shore. It will be moved on pontons to the final place. The bridge is finished and has some aditional stiffeners to make it stable for the transportation on the river Main.

For the celebration of the birthday of the harbour the construction site of the new bridge is open for the public. And also some old trains are moving on the rails of the harbour.

In a few days the bridge will move to its final location and this part of the harbour will be back to normal.

I came back some days later for the big move and took another panorama of the brige in the night when it was already half moved onto the river.
