Drought? Yea right! Well, yes and no. South Canterbury along with 600 kilometres of the Eastern side of Te Waipounamu/South Island has been officially declared to be in DROUGHT. So why so green in Waimate? Obviously we've had rain that no one else around us has had. That's Climate and Weather for you. Waimate is nestled at the foot of a range of hills that heads towards, though not reaching, the coast. This has been a year where the machinations of Climate and Weather upon our particular Landforms has meant that while we are nice a green, only 15 minutes down or up the road there is DROUGHT!!
