It is a symbol of Hokkaido University.
These Poplar were planted in 1912 as a windbreak.
About 40 percent were collapsed by a typhoon in 2004, but they were restored at present.

ポプラ並木
北海道大学のシンボル、ポプラ並木は防風林として1912年に植えられた。
2004年の台風で約4割が倒壊したが現在は復活している。
