A somewhat personal decade

In 2002, I started taking digital panoramas. The first panoramas I took where taken with a Kaidan KiWi-L panorama head (single row) and an Olympus C-3030 digital camera with a wide angle adapter. Looking back now, one can say that these pictures witness some kind of “historical flair” - those were the days my friends ;-)

It was not before 2004 that I started using a combo of a multi-row pano-head and a then State-of-the-Art Canon DSLR camera.

Whenever I test new equipment, I take photos of the Blue Bridge in Freiburg. This is an old iron bridge spanning over the railway near Freiburg main station. This bridge features - perfect for testing in fact - lots of straight lines, lots of curved lines and lots of parallax.

So for my personal decade, I decided to go back to the Blue Bridge, to once again, start another test: with a new lens, the stellar Canon EF 8-15mm (not exactly new, just not used yet in a regular panorama setup), a new pano head – Nodal Ninja RS-2 (just love that NN stuff), and also a completely new situation altogether: up to now, I've never ever done night time panos…

That anyhow, was the plan. But inspecting the Blue Bridge in darkness, I found it to be a bit boring. So I moved on a few hundred meters towards Freiburg Concert Hall. You can still see the blue bridge though, when looking closely: behind the flagpoles that are located to the left of the Taxi sign.
