The Bethlehem Steel plant pictured here is very different from when the plant was in operation. The paved road in front would have been filled with railroad tracks that once served the plant. Directly in front of the furnaces would have stood a powerhouse with seven giant gas engines which produced 25 cycle AC power. The only surviving element is the flywheel and generator from #7 engine. Music scales now echo during the summer from the amphitheatre.

4 open hearth shops

6 electric furnaces and 2 basic oxygen furnaces

3 million tons of annual steel-making capacity from the 2 basic oxygen furnaces alone

5 foundries for iron, steel and brass

180 miles of railroad track in the plant

900 overhead cranes moved material and products
