It was after this that the Environment Agency decided that Upton-upon-Severn should get a £2.1 million flood alleviation scheme. It would improve the level of flood protection for 54 properties in the town and hopefully keep the access through the town open.
The nearest building that you see in the panorama is the clubhouse for the football and rugby clubs. Originally it was built on its own little raised island to keep it off the floodplain, but now this has been wrapped by the new earth flood defence wall.
