Caption
Dawn in the Ilot Mato anchorage in New Caledonia—a strange, perfect calm—so calm it is impossible to see the division between sea and sky. It is a horizon without limits, extending around our planet in every direction, but with unseen, submerged reefs surrounding us, channeling our future movements with ordained precision. We anchored here because it is one of the few anchorages in the New Caledonia Lagoon with protection from all directions. With safety comes restriction of movement. But when it is calm and beautiful like this, who wants to move?
