I work with a lot of homebuilders in and around the Lincoln area. One thing I've noticed about them is the need to decrease their costs, particularly in the "current state" of the economy.

One way they do that is to build everything the same. Literally. Of all the townhouses on this block, the only things that changes are the mailboxes. I find it mildly irritating.

So, this is more a lack of diversity for the sake of efficiency.
