The Conservatory of Flowers is a living museum housing many rare and endangered tropical plant species focusing on, Lowland Tropics, Highland Tropics, Aquatic Plants and Potted Plants.

Together with the surrounding Golden Gate Park (which includes the Stribing Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, Japanese Tea Garden, rose garden and succulent garden) a huge diversity of plant life is preserved and displayed for visitors.

Visitors are almost as diverse as the plant varieties since San Francisco has attracted large numbers of many different groups to settle in both its ethnic neighborhoods such as Chinatown, North Beach-Little Italy and JapanTown and throughout the city. In addition millions of people visit San Francisco year round, many of whom also enjoy Golden Gate Park and the Conservatory of Flowers.
