The Royal Botanical Gardens is a National Historic Site of Canada, featuring over 2,700 acres of breathtaking gardens and spectacular nature sanctuaries.
OUR MISSION: To be a living museum which serves local, regional and global communities while developing and promoting public understanding of the relationship between the plant world, humanity and the rest of nature.
Experience glass art in a glass house — our Mediterranean Garden, in full bloom. This third-annual exhibit includes an expanded display of 100 shining examples of glass art created by Ontario artists and students studying glass art at Sheridan College Crafts and Design Program.
GARDENS: Mediterranean Garden, RBG Centre Two-storey indoor garden, features plant species from the world’s five Mediterranean climate regions. Bloom highlights are winter and early spring.
NATURE SANCTUARIES: Over 1,000 hectares of Carolinian forest, Niagara Escarpment cliffs, and shimmering wetlands, all accessible on our 23-kilometre trail system.
Cootes Paradise is the largest and most diverse of our sanctuaries and has 13.5 kilometres of trails.
Hendrie Valley covers over 358 acres of forested slope and floodplain wetland surrounding Hendrie Park Gardens, accessible by trail and boardwalks.
Rock Chapel includes forested tableland and Niagara Escarpment slope. This property features a 25-metre waterfall and 3.5 kilometres of trails.
Berry Tract plays a major role in maintaining ecological links between Cootes Paradise and the Niagara Escarpment/Rock Chapel area. The Bruce Trail connects the area with Rock Chapel Sanctuary and Cootes Paradise.
