Snow Bunnies

With an early Easter this year, many british tourists gathered at Levi Ski Resort in Northern Finland to try something new, a week of Ski School.

For many it was the first time on the slopes and the begining of a new passion. The Ski School has a staff of over 100 offering classes at different levels in Finnish, Russian and English.

Having tried it I am hooked on the idea of getting a good start to your snow experence. It may seem a bit slow at first but the pace picks up and in no time you are carving the slopes with ease. Levi is a great place to learn and grow your new ski skills with a snowpark, half pipes, gondolas and a new 8 person chairlift.

It may seem small at 531m but they have packed a lot of good options into a compact ski resort that would please all but the very serious skier. So watch out on the left of the front slope for the new snow bunnies hopping about,after a week they will be all over the mountain trying out their new found skills.

For me, I'll be between slope 9 and 10 trying the fresh snow Off Piste then a snack by the log fire in one of the many Tee Pees dotted around the slopes.

If planning a ski break or snow experence then check out Finland, it is amazing, great snow, well groomed slopes, modern services and not as expensive as the alps. Levi Lapland is only 17 mins drive from Kittila airport which caters for international charter flights.

Generally the slopes are not busy, during peak times at the most their will be a short wait at the gondola, long enough to catch your breath after the black run...
