The collection is specialized in the Science of the Atmosphere and is the most relevant historical memory about the Italian tradition of Meteorology and Geophysics.
It is situated in the Collegio Romano complex.
On the table is shown a climatic chart dated 1879, with barometric values still expressed in torr. The realization of the charts was possible due to an efficient system of telegraphic communication between European weather stations.
This aisle of the Collegio Romano was restructured around the 18th century, as we can notice from the frescos on the ceiling.
The "Regio Ufficio Centrale di Meteorologia" (Royal Central Office for Meteorology) founded in 1870 is now the "Ufficio Centrale di Ecologia Agraria" (Central Office for Agricultural Ecology) and was visitable on the occasion of the 15th FAI (Italian Foundation for the Ambience) day. During this day more than 500 monuments were open to the public.
