The atmosphere of Davout has an air of greatness, influenced by the continuous line of distinguished artists that have been coming through over the last forty years. Studio A, where this panorama was taken, is famous for its exceptional acoustics. It is more than 300 square meters and has a nearly 10 meter high ceiling. It is a very sought after recording studio for orchestras, especially for film scores.
This panorama shows a strings session, but where are the musicians ? The music is coming out of speakers put on two chairs and is being re-recorded by the three microphones hanging on the large stand. The reason for this strange technique is that the original recording was lacking “air” and re-playing the music in this exceptional acoustic environment adds the atmosphere that was previously lacking.
