The majority of our population clings to the edge of this big island and, despite the local waters containing some of the world's most dangerous marine life, water sports are included in the hobbies of many. Great White sharks are commonly seen around South Australia's city and surfing beaches. The more intelligent portion of the community realises that these beautiful (and frighteningly dangerous looking) creatures are endangered and merely patrolling their own territory for food.
Personally, I'd rather have the sharks than the Box Jellyfish found off the Queensland coast. I mean, who wants to have to swim with pantyhose and a bottle of vinegar?
