I took this picture in "El Mercado Principal" (main market), place where we use to go on weekends to buy our food. Ramona is the woman owner of this place, she is that one checking the measurement balance who was very kind to let us make this pano.
Merida city is Venezuela's most popular destination for tourists and backpackers. It is a lively, cultural place, with a large university and numerous architectural monuments that illustrate the city's rich colonial past. Mérida is also a good base for organizing excursions into the mountains because his near high peaks. The main market (Mercado Principal) is one of the most visit places in the city, not only for us that live here but for the souvenir hunters the visit us. It is ideal because of its great variety of colorful local art, mostly handmade.
Merida has the highest and longest cable car in the world with an overall length of 12,5 km. It starts in "Barinitas" Station at 1.577 m, in downtown city, spans the National Park called "Sierra Nevada", and goes up to "Pico Espejo" at 4.785 m.a.s.l.
Merida is situated in the West of Venezuela about 700 km far from the capital, Caracas.
